What it Means to be a Shareholder at
Wolf Pine Farm
To be a shareholder at Wolf Pine Farm is to share in the risks and rewards of each farm season.
To share the risk means that the season will not always be exactly as we have planned, that yields may be light, that certain crops may fail,
that the mix will be different from season to season. To share the rewards means not just seeing a larger share when crops produce bountifully,
but also to experience many of the intangible rewards that the farm has to offer. These include having a space to call “my” farm,
getting to know your farmers, having opportunities to connect with other shareholders, receiving a weekly newsletter with seasonal recipe ideas,
having the option to pick some of your own herbs and flowers (that are not included in the cost of the share),
shopping at the farm store where you can support other local farms, swimming, having a place to picnic with family, opportunities for attending workshops &
potlucks, and so on. To be a shareholder is also to be part of a larger entity – a growing local, organic agriculture movement in Maine and
across the country. We think of this farm as a place to grow food, to reconnect people to the land where their food comes from,
to train young farmers, and to strive toward strengthening a community of people who are more locally self-reliant. We thank you for choosing to be a part of this with us.
